I recently moved from the UK to Germany and hired R.B. Steel to organise the transport. My goods got stuck at the customs because the documentation I provided to R.B. Steel was not forwarded to customs. In addition, the invoice required for customs documentation was filed with a wrong name and the contractor hired by Steel did not forward the request for a corrected invoice to the company. In the end, I had to provide all my documentation again directly to the courier service (TNT) hired by Steel, and in addition had to inquire on the invoice issue with TNT and tell Steel what to do. The entire issue delayed my delivery by over two weeks, while it could have been resolved in in less than a day if Steel's contractors would do their jobs properly. After I had finally received my goods I asked for a financial compensation of £100, which was the amount I had paid to Steel for customs documentation, which I considered not provided by the company (or at least very, very poorly executed) as I
had to do everything myself. I exchanged several emails on that issue with Mr [name removed by Sirelo] himself (supposedly the owner of the company), all of which in a very polite but insisting tone. Mr [name removed by Sirelo] did show any understanding or sense of responsibility for the troubles caused and rejected to provide any compensation. In his last email he became very sarcastic, insinuating that it's kind of my own fault since I chose to live in Germany, and that I shoudl have told him in advance that I were a bonded customs agent (which I am certainly not, but I am also not a professional company dealing with overseas moves but screwing up customs documentation). If I had known that the transport of my goods would be organised through a courier service, I would have done it myself: faster and for about half the price. In addition I would not have had to deal with such unpolite person, not willing to admit that his company (and their contractors) made mistakes and step up accordingly, like Mr [name removed by Sirelo]. -5 out of 5 stars.Read more
