Beyond awful. Police now involved. Avoid at all costs. We relocated to Germany with a baby. Paid £5.5K in August only to be given the run around for months. Now all we get is silence despite them still having our money and never delivering our possessions. They told us last month that they couldn't afford to deliver our goods despite having been paid upfront. We had to pay the same again to another company to collect the goods Cottams had collected and stored knowing they would never deliver. Ombudsman, Police, and Lawyers all involved. Relocating with a new baby was always going to be a challenge. I didn't expect to be scammed out of our savings in the process. These people don't deserve to be in business. Shameful and dishonest. They not only stole our money but also precious months of my maternity leave when I should have been focused on my baby and establishing a new home for my family. I will never get that time back. We may never get our money back either, but I intend to do all I can to safeguard others from suffering the same fate. [Name removed by Sirelo] and his wife [Name removed by Sirelo] are nothing more than disgusting thieves who don’t care about the stress and hardship they inflict on others. Awful experience. Non sense company, no contacts, no follow-up, no right estimate, not the amount of people estimated, no delivery date and it costed me 30% more without reason (and oviously too late to be able to change company), I've chased them for two weeks to have a delivery date and they told me in the morning they would deliver us that day, while I told them I wouldn't be there on that date. Awful people, awful communication, awful price

J’aimerais avoir l’attention de l’application pour ne plus jamais proposer les services de ce prestataire, car ils m’ont arnaqué une mise en demeure leur a été envoyé et si il ne répondait pas à cette mise en demeure des actions pénales seront mis en place contre. Pour faire un courrier, ils ne m’ont livré que la moitié des mes meubles en me disant qu’il reviendrait la semaine prochaine me livrer le reste de mes meubles et ne m’ont plus répondu pendant des jours et quand ils m’ont répondu, ils ont prétexté que j’avais rompu une de leurs règles. Ce qui était faux il ne voulait tout simplement plus revenir et ne m’ont pas remboursé non plus, si quelqu’un a besoin de connaître les détails, il peut me contacter . Ce fut un cauchemar, beaucoup de meubles et de vaisselle cassés, il y a eu transbordement des 50 m3 ce qui n était pas prévu et a généré dommages et salissures, pas ou peu de protection, en bref manque de professionnalisme total et j attends toujours des nouvelles de l assurance... à ne pas recommander.

Cottam & Sons removals. Bullies & Money Grabbers.
I’m an OAP who lives alone because my wife passed away from cancer. Age has made me frail, and I now struggle with the five flights of stairs I have in my three-story home. My council tax is high, I pay a large service charge, and now I struggle with all the energy and price increases. Hence, I wanted to move somewhere cheaper.
This was the second time I used Cottam & Sons removals. When they did my first removal, the service was good. I realise now that’s because I did not have to change my removal date, and I should have not just read but scrutinised and possibly had legal advice on Cottam’s lengthy terms and conditions. It was a mistake, but foolishly I trusted them.
My chain had a few problems, and with short notice, I needed to move my removal date. I can only say that in trying to do this with Cottams, they made my life hell. I contacted Cottams five days before to seek advice on changing the date, and during our conversation, the removal date waiver was brought up. As this was something I did not know about, I said I would be happy to pay the £80.00 fee for it. However, this request was refused. All I was told was that if I cancel now, I would have to pay 50% of the fees, and the percentage would rise to 100% of the fees totalling £1450.00 in a few days’ time. The £1450.00 was for the Cottam’s gold service for packing and moving. This packing and removal job was to take two days.
With the exchange and completion still up in the air, I was forced to cancel my removal. Now that’s when the bullying and intimidation really began. By email, not by an invoice, I was told I had to on pay the full amount by 5.00 pm. This was on the first day that I should have had a packing service. On day two, I was told once again to pay up by 5.00 pm, or they would engage a firm of bailiffs.
I understand overheads have to be met. All Cottam & Sons could see was a very easy, highly-paid payday. They earned £1450.00, and they did not have to send a team to pack or provide three vans and a team for the removal and unpacking. Now also consider that out of the £1450.00, Cottam’s would put on a reasonable profit margin. No discount or compromise was offered to me. What happened to good customer service? The simple answer, greed is greed.
