Just a quick note to say a huge thank you to Matthew from Boothams and his team.
We had a complex move of unfamiliar, sensitive, lab equipment and your two movers were fantastic moving the heavy, awkward, equipment carefully, considerately and professionally between the two departments and into their new positions so that they're ready for use by our scientists.

Boothams did an excellent job packing and moving us from Kent to North Yorkshire over 4 days.
I've read other reviews on here from people who failed to get a quotation from them. I'd observe that getting through to the office to discuss a quotation was the least good bit of the service we had from them. We did have to do some chasing. But I'm glad we did, because the quality of the service we received for the move itself was excellent. It helped that we were arranging the move many weeks beforehand, so were trying to arrange things for a week when the diary their end would still have been clear. When it came to confirming the actual date, they even moved a one-day move for another customer to the week before so that they were free to start on our preferred date.
We had a team of 3 men with us for the whole move. They obviously work together a lot and enjoy doing so; their teamwork, banter and friendship was obvious. It helped to have the same people throughout. When we've moved before with a national chain of removers, we had different people each end, and others coming to help after they'd finished on another job. Much nicer to get to know the people moving you. It also helps them work well when they're seeing their own work through - fewer mistakes got made with which room things went into as a result.
They worked hard. They were polite and friendly. They were quick and efficient. If there was anything they were unsure of, they asked. They'd check if something was staying or going. They labelled boxes more precisely than just the room it came from. They'd ask which room it was going into (which wasn't always the same as where it came from), and also try to write what was in the box. 'Kitchen plates' is so much more helpful the other end than just 'China'.
Nothing was too much trouble. If anything needed dismantling or moving, they'd do it. They even took the loft ladder apart to get things through the opening more easily, then put everything back together.
We'd have no hesitation using Boothams again the next time we need to move. Although hopefully this won't be for a long time, as even a good removals firm can't take away from the fact that moving house is painful and hard work.

Arranged a survey to have a quote for removals. Mathew arrived on Tuesday and promised a quote by the end of the week, which seemed a long time to me. Nothing arrived. Chased them either Monday or Tuesday the following week. Profuse apologies, had been very busy but I would get the quote by the end of the day. Another week has passed and still nothing. They play heavily on doing work for Christies. I bet they don't get service like this! Awful. Don't deserve 1 star.

Bootham Removals did a wonderful job moving us from York to Essex. Nothing was too much trouble and all the men involved with our removal were pleasant and helpful. I would definitely recommend this firm.

This company did a great job of moving us to our new home. Nothing was too much trouble, from getting parking boxes to advice on packing through to the lads carry everything to exactly where we wanted it. Even huge plants in plant pots were painstakingly heaved into the garden. They packed everything well and carefully carried the furniture into the house, they were well mannered and courteous throughout the whole day. The price was competitive too, I would definitely recommend Bootham Removals.
