Unreliable, didn't show up on the day. We changed our move day to fit with them and they let us down with no reason given, or attempt to contact us.
We booked one week in advance to move the contents of our one bedroom flat from Greenock to Ayrshire. We were planning to move on the Tuesday, but the person I spoke to (who seemed very friendly and courteous) said they weren't available that day, but could do the Monday. We had a quote from another company for the Tuesday but it was double the price of Clyde Carriers and they didn't sound as friendly or courteous, so we brought forward our moving plans by one day, told our landlord that the flat would be empty a day earlier than originally planned.
On the day of the move they didn't arrive at 10am as planned. I called repeatedly but they let it go to answerphone. By noon I hadn't heard anything so resigned myself to having to sort it myself, bearing in mind we had to be out that day. I was left feeling like a total idiot for trusting these guys.
My partner was working that day so I had to organise van hire at short notice and humf our stuff down two flights of stairs by myself until he could get back from work to help me.
We've been having an incredibly stressful renovation prior to moving into our new home, doing everything ourselves as first time buyers, and booking movers for the first time ever was supposed to reduce our stress. Instead, it piled on lots more hassle than if we'd just planned to move ourselves from the start.
As a business owner I understand that things come up and issues happen. But I'm incredibly disappointed that they made no effort to get in touch to say that something had come up, or having the guts to do me the courtesy of answering my calls. If they'd even made up a nonsense excuse the day before we could then have planned better and wouldn't be left scrambling to sort something out at the last minute, or my partner could have got the day off work to help me move. Doing it ourselves not only cost extra stress - it has meant that I needed to take an extra day off work to unload and return the van the next day, costing me lost work.
I've attempted several times over the last few days to speak to Clyde Carriers to give them a chance to explain why they let us down so badly before leaving this review but they're refusing to answer my calls.
I absolutely do not recommend. I felt that the positive reviews here and the fact that they answered very quickly when I first called (a few times to check changing our move date) and sounded organised meant that we were in safe hands. There were no red flags. Let this be a warning to get someone more reliable with something as important as moving your stuff. They clearly don't respect our time, so to be honest I'm glad we didn't trust them with our belongings too.
