Just been robed by this company! £120 charged for travel time. Outbound journey was less than 6 miles, return journey 1.4miles.
Verified journey times was 23mins and 7mins per journey. They charge £80 an hour for removal service. No issue with that, just the travel amount they claimed.

I requested a quote online from Arthur's for moving my upright piano from upstairs, down a narrow staircase and to a new property. I was quoted £350, assured that 'If we can't do it then noone can', 'Gough and Davy will attest to our ability', 'stairs won't be an issue'. I booked for the week before my move date. I provided all relevant information on the phone as the email did not seem to work, assured it was upstairs, took 3 men to put there and had a narrow staircase and had to go on it's end at the top and the bottom. I was asked whether it had 3 pedals, which I said yes to. Again I was reassured it would not be an issue.
On the day, 2 movers came. in their defence, they were punctual. They looked at the stairs and the piano and then informed me that 'this is not an upright piano. It is an upright grand and we can't move it. We need 4 men. We weren't told that'. I said that I had never been aware of an 'upright grand', having owned this piano for 30 years, and that this had never been an issue. They informed me due to the '3 pedals' this made it an upright grand. I assured them this has been passed on to the person on the phone, they were aware of the positioning and the narrow stairs and that it would need more than 2 men.
The men advised that they had to leave for another job - after 10 minutes, so I can only assume they work so quickly that they'd have expected to finish my job within this time frame which seems rather optimistic at best. I asked for more removers to be called to assist - I was told there were no other men available and that I would have to call the office.
I have called the office repeatedly, to no avail.
I have left a message, which has not been responded to.
Having now had to call all other movers in the area I have been reliably informed by a specialist piano centre that the claim of '3 pedals making it an upright grand' is, for want of a better phrase, B***s***, and an excuse not to do the job.
I am utterly disappointed and appalled by the lack of service from this company - who repeatedly told me that they were the 'men for the job', 'if they could not do it, no-one could', and I am now left having to extend my tenancy and delay my moving date in order to book in a professional piano mover in short notice. Avoid at all costs - waste of time.

Great service moving an old and heavy piano today. The exit route to the van had tight bends and step-overs and the team did it with care. Thank you very much.

Pleasant guys, worked hard. Though only 1 man per van (2 vans) so it took 3hrs to pack a boxed up 3 bed house (plus loft) and similar to unpack the van. We were quoted a set price for the day over the phone then charged £80 more upon leaving as they had gone into 'overtime'. No mention of time limits when I called to enquire about services. Will remember to get quotes in writing in future. Still cheaper than other removals firms I called though.

Arthur recently moved my mum. What a Star, him and his colleague saved the day. He went above and beyond for mum. He was quick, knowledgeable and extremely helpful. Would highly recommend him.
