Raquel was extremely helpful and accommodating, then, when my lengthy chain hit major problems, she was still uncomplainingly willing and able to reserve prospective alternative dates, and came up with helpful suggestions on how to negotiate Easter.
Unfortunately, on moving day, the promised house and furniture protection didn’t materialise, save for an old, thin piece of woolly matting, about 3’x 6’ which was thrown down in the hallway. It was the same at the new house.
They had a straightforward job emptying the old house, as I’d carried absolutely everything downstairs beforehand, apart from a chest of drawers, and stacked it neatly for them.
As I unpacked over the following fortnight, I quickly realised that there were things missing, eg. 3 lightshades, one of which cost £50, then every few days since, I have realised that other things just hadn’t arrived at the new house. In total, I estimate that one, probably two, entire, medium-sized, standard removal boxes were missing.
All my boxes had labels on top, itemising the contents, as this had been a requirement of the first company. People have since advised me that boxes are better numbered, and those numbers allocated to a private list of contents, otherwise one is simply advertising what is in each box.
I have also since spoken to someone else who was missing an entire box when they moved.
There really is no come-back as you only get 7 days to unpack and report any problems, and even then, receipts are required for each item. One week may be adequate for a fit, healthy, young couple but is unachievable for the single elderly. Also, we might keep receipts for big items until they are out of guarantee but no one I know keeps receipts for everything, indefinitely.
At bedtime, I was disheartened to find that my bed had not been reassembled as promised. Also, at the end of the van-unloading, I was presented with the paperwork in my kitchen and asked to sign it. One signature was to say I’d checked the van and everything had come in. Against my better judgement, I signed without checking the van, because the two people had worked so hard and it was a really hot afternoon, and they had such a long drive home ahead of them. I’d glanced in earlier in the afternoon, from the ground outside it, and there was so much in there by way of spare boxes, blankets, wardrobe boxes etc that it would have been hard to notice the odd box or two amongst all the mess.
However, to end on a positive note, the removal team of two were bright, cheerful and friendly. They worked hard and managed, as if by magic, to get my enormous sofa into the living room. They also put the legs back onto my dining room table. Arrangements were also made at the departure end, to collect a single mattress from my house, so that I could sleep on it, instead of on the floor, for my last night in the empty house.
Perhaps if anyone is reading this and found they had two packing boxes containing things that weren’t theirs, they’d be kind enough to let Acorn know and perhaps the contents could be reunited with me, their owner. Thank you.Read more

Asked for feedback, I left the feedback and never responded, not even an apology.
Wouldn't recommend at all as I had to replace a lot of small items, a shed, a fridge-freezer and some sideboards, dressers etc so the move cost me double in the end, maybe even more, after having to replace all the damaged items.
