It just seemed a bit rushed and they went to set off without the hoover. I managed to catch them with that. Seemed keen to get ahead but I still had finishing up to do. And realised after they'd gone that the dreaded cat tray (clean) was left for me to take in full car. Did not fewl chance to check everything was loaded. Reassured would wait at the other end.
Seemed to want to control the timescale and rush and went in the destination house before the other person had fully moved out and well ahead of me - despite saying they could wait. The other person was annoyed with me because she felt rushed and it wasn't what we had agreed as I was told they would wait. Also person i swapped with was annoyed to find water pouring out of sink where the washer had been removed - I didnt know it was leaking and wouldnt have left it like that.
I pointedly didnt give keys because I wanted to be there when unloading started. When I called on route they said the vacating person had allowed access and that they'd started and would be unloaded and done before I got there which made me feel stressed and rushed, especially as I was told over the phone all my wardrobes wouldn't go upstairs and that they'd leave before I got there. Because ahead of me things in wrong place like the drier in the fridge gap and my clothes hung in wrong place. One guy a bit awkward on purpose. But fortunately other guys were more amenable to compensate. The other two men were really helpful with a can do attitude - Jason and ?? Forget name was really helpful and all worked hard in rock hot heat.
Two plugs- those that are fixed on plastic and not easily replaced on both air condtion unit (boiling hot day) and strimmer one prong bent so couldn't plug in. Also, I had pointedly left my phone charger out as wanted it to hand but it got packed in a bin liner somehow while I wasnt looking and it took me three days to find it - unable to charge my phone but forgiveable oversight although annoying cos I had kept it out.
Had to take the (clean) cat tray in the car with us as overlooked in the rush.
That said - worked really hard, I should have thought about drinks! And would next time. I got moved without doing loads of lifting myself. Would have been perfect where it not for the rush, the two damaged plugs and the charger being hidden in a random bin bag and stuff put in wrong places due to the rush.
Not sure if there was a match on or something? But definitely going faster than ideal. Especially as i had agreed with other person we would cross on the journey and that we'd wait if there before she had chance to leave.
Stressful but worth it.
I would recommend just feeding back the minor issues that could be avoided next time for a perfect service.Read more
When we first booked we had a survey done of our possessions to determine what size van, very professional and knowledgeable and put us at ease from the start.
On the day the 2 lads came at 8am and whizzed through the house loading the van at speed, very respectful of our belongings.
We didn't get our keys until after 4pm but the lads were so good waiting, they didn't put any pressure on us and they made a very stressful day much smoother. 2 more lads showed up to empty so there was 4 of them offloading and putting things in the right rooms. Absolutely lovely friendly professional guys. Can't thank them enough
The reason for the one star is the fact that the ‘Insurance’ it sold as a part of that service, and customers are made to feel as though they’re fully covered, or at least given that impression. And that this was certainly something that gave me reassurance when choosing to book with these guys. Now I know that somewhere in the small print it will have the legalese of what is covered in the insurance and it was my responsibility to do my due diligence, but just be aware that despite being ‘fully insured’ you will be lucky to receive 15% of whatever the value you paid for the item.
Now it must be further clarified, that’s it’s the insurers that ultimately make the decision, not J Middleton & sons. My issue is that J Middleton & sons knowingly use the ‘insurance’ in such a way to gain reassurance and custom fully knowing that movers will never get the value of the item they expect if there is an accident, and this tactic has completely nullified any positive experience I had with this firm. I feel completely miss-sold to
In summary, the insurance is worth very little, and you should enquire as to the particulars of the insurance before you book.Read more
