We used Abbey Removals and would absolutely not recommend. Furniture scratched and chipped, microwave oven damaged and glasses smashed. Everything was clearly labeled and packaged well. Movers paid no attention to fragile tape and writing on boxes. Fragile boxes stacked under heavy items and boxes dropped. We paid additional fees for insurance but can’t get a response from Abbey Removals re our damages. If you do book with them I wouldn’t bother adding on insurance, clearly a waste of money.
On the day the removal team kept making comments ‘oh you want that moved too’, it seemed in good humour initially but the joke quickly got old. We were made to feel like they were doing us a favour rather than us paying for a service. We paid hourly and felt like it was on a go slow, in the end there was a delay with our keys so it wouldn’t have made a difference cost wise but it was extremely frustrating in the morning. We ended up moving a lot of items ourselves - multiple boxes, garden furniture, pots etc just to try and see some progress.
We used another removal company to move a piano shortly after our move and it was a totally different experience - helpful, efficient and nothing was too trouble. Just wish we had gone with them first time round!Read more

We had furniture in storage for a short time which we had to extend through events out with our control. I was upset and humiliated by the way I was spoken to by a member of management when we had to extend our storage six days before our delivery.
We were charged an unexpected amount to delay delivery and refused information regarding daily/weekly storage charge when I asked for a breakdown of the extra costs.
On the day of removal and delivery the staff were very friendly, helpful and polite and made it very stress free.
We did have one damaged item and it was compensated very promptly.
Always ask for a clear and transparent breakdown of price.
