This anonymous case study shares a real experience of relocating from the United Kingdom to Canada for work. The move involved organising and shipping household belongings across the Atlantic, navigating international logistics, and choosing a suitable moving company. The experience below reflects the mover’s own account.
I was relocating for my husband’s job, as he got a wonderful offer and opportunity over in Canada. The experience of moving was daunting at first, as there were a lot of logistics to figure out and consider.
However, the actual experience wasn’t bad at all. Deliver1 were extremely helpful to us in guiding us on shipping our stuff to Canada, and they were kind enough to help us when we got things wrong. Our stuff arrived in Canada safe and sound, and the collection process was even quicker than we imagined. Overall, a 10/10 experience.
They were the cheapest quote we received when we made the initial request for quotes.
We weren’t ready to move just yet, and we didn’t know what dates we’d need to move, so we had to do another enquiry later on once we knew the timeline. I personally googled Deliver1 and read through customer reviews to understand what other customers’ experiences were like. It was mostly positive, with a few negative reviews. The reviews were good enough for us, so we decided to go for it.
On moving day, a delivery driver was scheduled to arrive in the morning. Unfortunately, I had to pick up my mum from the airport early in the morning, but heavy traffic on the M25 delayed us significantly. I reached out to the Deliver1 team to let them know and to ask if there was an alternative time. They were kind enough to push the collection forward. By the new agreed time, we were home and had prepared everything.
The driver checked the site for inventory and collected the items without any issues.
No issues at all, everything arrived safely, and the process was quicker than expected.
I would strongly advise that movers read the rules around what’s allowed for shipping and what isn’t. We initially made the mistake of overlooking this and packed a few forbidden items.
Fortunately, it was noted early, long before the scheduled flight date, and Deliver1 helped with the removal so we could avoid extra fees in Canada.
I would also recommend using strong boxes, doubling them if possible, especially for heavy items. Make sure you take inventory of literally everything and provide detailed descriptions.
