I could not have chosen a better company to help with my move. From the outset, everyone on the office team were helpful and supportive, managing to steer me through missed moving dates and cancelled sale the first time around. When I finally got my new moving date, they updated all my details and made a revised plan via a video link with minimum of fuss. The packing team was quiet and efficient, the removal team was exemplary. Everyone worked in a professional way throughout the day, with good humour and generosity. Even when there was a very long delay at the final stage in locating a new garage to complete the move, the whole team was patient and supportive to the end. I cannot recommend Gilkes highly enough. Five star performance from the entire team.

David Gilkes were fantastic. Cannot praise them enough. We were moving relatively long distance so the move was over three days. Paul and Kyle were fantastic packing the house up. Dean and Jordan came the next day to load the van , again fantastic and we were out on time for key handover. They then met us the next day ( 200 miles later) to unload the van. The move went so smoothly , I was amazed at Deans driving ability at safely manoeuvring the truck around a very tricky access to our new property. Would highly recommend David Gilkes, they have an excellent reputation ( we used them as they came recommended to us from our daughters move, she used them after recommendation from her friend)

Gilkes Removals were brilliant, thank you for everything. 4 men arrived on time, smartly dressed in company dress. Polite friendly and got on with loading. They handled everything carefully. They loaded the lorry quickly and were on their way. The next day at the new house they arrived on time and soon had the lorry unloaded. We had booked Gilkes provisionally in November but as with a lot of sales, it didn’t go smoothly Jo in the office was lovely. She was so patient and understanding when I was stressing. Thank you Gilkes for a good moving experience.

David Gilkes did a long haul move and we opted for the two day move (they collected our things on day 1, then delivered on day 2). I was blown away by the care and attention. We didn’t have to pack draws, or pack the hanging clothes, these two things made a huge difference with packing. They put each box into whatever room was written on it and in the past this hasn’t happened with other movers I used. We have two dogs and they weren’t bothered by them in the slightest, in fact they made a point to say goodbye to them after they finished. We had a nightmare with our vendor so the two day move was less stressful and ensured we had the house ready for them. Would highly recommend and incredibly professional. Thank you DG!

After 58 years in their family home, moving was an emotional and daunting task for my elderly and disabled mum and dad. But from the moment the David Gilkes Removals team arrived, promptly at 8:30 AM sharp, we knew we were in the best hands. Their professionalism, efficiency, and genuine kindness made a potentially stressful day feel smooth and even enjoyable.
They didn’t just pack and move furniture, they went above and beyond to make sure Mum and Dad were comfortable and happy. Nothing was too much trouble, whether it was tackling tricky and heavy furniture or carefully ensuring every box was placed exactly where it needed to be. Their patience and attention to detail were exceptional, staying right through until around 3 PM and even helping to put the furniture back together at the new place.
And it wasn’t all work, there were plenty of laughs along the way! One particularly funny moment came when one of the lads dropped a jar of beetroot, earning himself the nickname “BeetleJuice” for the rest of the day. To top it off, we mistook another lad for the boss early on, which led to endless ribbing from the rest of the crew, keeping the mood light and spirits high.
After an hour’s drive to the new home, they unpacked with the same care and respect, ensuring everything was placed perfectly. By the time they left, Mum and Dad were not just settled, they were relaxed and relieved after such a significant move.

Had a great experience with Gilkes, we discussed the quote and there was flexibility and helpful conversations about what could work for us. The plan was clear and it was one less stress to consider as the service was really professional and felt reliable. Packing was done with care and the team who did the packing and moving were really helpful, approachable and did a brilliant job, all went smoothly and like clockwork . Felt well worth the money and would recommend.
