Our move was planned on a particular basis due to restricted access to the new house. It was a surprise that the crew arrived on day 1 with a different plan. However, compounded by sick absence (pandemics are difficult), the plan was reworked and, following our call to the office expressing concern on day 2, an additional crew member was provided on days 3 and 4. We eventually completed in 4 days, on time if not exactly to plan – something which meant we started further back than expected once the crew had left.
We worked well with the removals crew who were hard-working, and flexible. Unfortunately on the last day it emerged that there had been some minor damage to an old wardrobe, something which, initially, we sat light to. Surrey Hills took the damaged panel away but when the arrangements for return and the nature of the repair proved unsatisfactory, we emailed the office to say so. We didn't hear anything for a few days, so we chased a reply. The resulting aggressive email from the managing director implied that we and the quality of the furniture were the problem.
We have very moved many times. This was neither the best nor, honestly, the worst removal we have received – and the crew was fine. However, the seemingly poor planning and, in particular, the post-move dealings leave a sour taste. I have given this move 6 out of 10 only because 4 would be unfair to the crew.Read more
