All good I thought. Well not quite! Shipment arrived and the packaging was shocking, due to covid, I had not been able to be in the same room when they packed so had no idea how bad a job they had done.
My air conditioning unit was broken, so I placed a call to Hamilton’s to put in a claim. I was contacted some time later to be told ... wait for it ! We forgot to charge you for the insurance and if you want to make a claim you have to pay us an extra £140. I explained that I had received a “total final bill” months ago and if there was an error on their part then that was clearly their issue. Absolutely not acceptable three months later and only when I go to make a claim for damages to try and extort further funds from their clients.
As claims for insurance go through Hamilton’s, I was not able to claim on the insurance, I had been lead to believe that was fully paid for!
Had this been a genuine mistake on their part I would expect them to apologise and take the hit finically. Instead I get [name removed by Sirelo] with an attitude, sending me an email telling me to escalate my complaint via customer services, umm guess who was head of customer service complaints? 1.They withheld important information on where our items would be stored until the actual moving date
2.When planning to move countries, you must be able to rely on your removal company taking this seriously. Sadly, this wasn't the case with Hamilton's.
3.They failed to actually move even a single box as their van was too small.
4.Refused to take any part of the responsibility, instead they started to calculate surcharges for what was now 'our' problem.
5.Took 50% of our money as 'cancellation fee' (as if that's a justification to pulling such amounts of money from clients), when paying thousands....
6.Extremely rude customer service
7.Haven't heard back since they took the ransom money, ahem, 'cancellation fee'
8.Questionable business model or math skills: Movers make close to nothing, they didn't pack any of our stuff or move anything due to them sending a minivan instead of a truck... but they took over 1k in cancellation fees. Interesting.
9. Avoid this company if you want to successfully move, without hidden costs and disrespectful language being used.Read more
