1I booked my move with Apex Removals, paid the required deposit, and received confirmation that my booking was secured. I therefore had every reason to believe my move would proceed as agreed.
On the evening before our scheduled moving day, I received a telephone call from a member of staff who explained that the employee who had originally dealt with my booking was no longer with the company and that he had taken over my case. During that conversation, he told me that my move had been underquoted and overbooked. He explained that the van allocated was not large enough and that too few movers had been booked for the size of the job.
I was informed that Apex could not honour my confirmed booking as arranged. To his credit, the employee apologised repeatedly and worked hard to find an alternative at very short notice through what he described as one of Apex's sister companies. While I appreciated his personal efforts to help, I was left with no option but to accept the alternative because we were due to move the following morning.
The replacement move cost almost twice as much as the original quotation, leaving us thousands of pounds out of pocket through no fault of our own. No customer should be placed in that position the night before they are due to move home.
Since then, my experience with Apex's complaints process has been equally disappointing. I submitted a formal written complaint and requested access to the company's official complaints procedure. Despite repeated requests, I have not been provided with the information needed to access their complaints system, and many of the questions I have asked have gone unanswered. Instead of receiving a formal response through the company's complaints process, I have received informal replies that have not addressed the issues I raised.
What has been particularly frustrating is that parts of the events described during the telephone conversations now appear to be disputed, despite the fact that I have retained evidence of those conversations. My only objective has been to obtain a fair resolution based on what happened.
I appreciate that mistakes can happen in any business. However, how a company responds when those mistakes occur is just as important as the mistake itself. In my experience, Apex has failed to deal with this complaint transparently or fairly.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Apex Removals.Read more
