I recently hired ECOMove for a moving job, and unfortunately, it turned into a nightmare. The workers, although they seemed to be good laborers, arrived visibly exhausted from a previous job. After 5 hours and 25 minutes, they left without completing the job, which was extremely frustrating.
I had booked the service for 4 hours with the option to extend to 6, but after just 4 hours, the two workers expressed their exhaustion, explaining that ECOMove often pushes them to their limits, sometimes working over 12 hours a day. It was clear to me that this is a systemic issue with the company rather than a fault of the workers.
To make matters worse, my £4000 smart fridge was damaged during the move, and the dismantling and reassembly service they offer was subpar. They arrived with nothing more than cheap blankets for protection, which is hardly adequate for valuable items.
When I raised my concerns, I was advised to read their terms and conditions, which state that any damage is my responsibility. This is completely unacceptable, especially considering UK Consumer Rights, which will override any clauses in their terms. We are not in a 3rd world country.
Additionally, I faced harassment from the workers who tried to call me after my complaint, with one even threatening me via text message. It’s disheartening to deal with such unprofessional behaviour, especially when I was simply trying to address the issues at hand.
In summary, I strongly advise against using ECOMove if you have valuable items. While they may offer competitive prices, the risk of damage and poor service is not worth it. You would be better off paying a little more for a reputable removal company that values its customers and their belongings. Avoid ECOMove at all costs, or you might find yourself dealing with the same issues I faced, potentially even having to take legal action for damages.Read more
