Firstly, the van and two men was actually a man and a woman which wasn’t ideal for the move I had specified. They arrived an hour late, were unable to get all my belongings in their van despite me listing my requirements for the quote - I had to find an alternative to transport two wardrobes. After departing, they turned back to the property I was vacating 20 mins later to ask about payment. They were assured I was waiting at the new property to pay and when I was called, rudely asked what I was paying etc.. I reminded them it was an hourly rate so would depend on length of time. The lady told me they only had 2 hours but in my correspondence, I was told the quote was for a minimum booking of 2 hours. When they arrived, there was complaint about the stairs. Again, I communicated that it was a 3rd floor flat with no lift and was assured that stairs, dismantle and reassemble was all within the quote. (I did not utilise them for and dismantling or reassembly.) Their service was slow, my requirements was beyond their physical ability and they left most of the stuff at the bottom of the stairs, relying on me and friends I called upon to bring everything up when I realised the job was too big for them. The van was dirty and they had no covers so mattresses were left stained.
I’m actually annoyed with myself that I paid with a tip. This seemed like nothing but man and woman with an old van trying to make a bit of cash at the weekend. I was fortunate to have been able to call upon friends who could help bring the rest of my belongings and carry it into the flat. Please note, this wasn’t even a full house move! My items were packed into the van fine. I gave them the keys to go to the property as I was following after we’d packed the car up.
Their boss calls me asking where we are as the removal men are finished - which I thought was quick. I explained we’re were 15 mins away. He calls again asking where we are as they need paying, we were pulling in at this point. I asked him to send over bank details. I explained I wasn’t sending money until I’d seen my stuff had been moved & got the keys back. They charged me 2 x the amount the quoted me - albeit it took longer which I explained it would during the booking but clearly this was ignored.
As I walk down to my property, my items including a lamp on its side & my tv were left in the street, next to the pub near by. Neither of the removal men were with the stuff - also clearly they weren’t finished.
Pieces of my furniture & items left outside the property. They had only moved my bed upstairs & nothing else - even though it was all clearly labelled which room it needed to go into.
They’d taken my sofa apart by unscrewing it - I didn’t know it came apart. I asked them if they could put it back together & they told me to call their boss. I called him & he tells me they’ve gone.. I said no they haven’t they in my living room! He then says he’ll charge me an hour (£85) for them to do this. I explained it doesn’t take an hour, he then asked me how long it would take?! How would I know?! He then calls the men to put the sofa back together which they did be grudgingly. (I would like to add here also that I ordered them coffees as everything was packed up as a good will gesture earlier in the day.)
I asked if they could carry 2 chest of drawers upstairs for me which they ignored. One eventually helped my friend move it upstairs.
The reason I booked them was they said they covered the carpets so carpets wouldn’t get dirty.
The cherry on the cake - They’ve traipsed back & forth on my cream carpet in dirty boots & left mud throughout the property.
I’ve also noticed a big black mark covering half the side of my sofa as well which wasn’t there prior to the move.
I messaged the boss to explain I was unhappy with the service & sent photos. The message has been read with no reply. Incredibly rude & unprofessional. You don’t badger people for money & then do a substandard job. At least have the decency to respond to a text.Read more
