I do not normally write reviews but my experience with Sussex Tailor Removals has been such a nightmare that I thought I would take some time to share it so others wouldn't be trapped with this company. To sum up, we have been shouted at, threatened to get our belongings stored in their warehouse unless we pay more at each single step of the process and something mysteriously disappeared.

We were moving oversea so decided to get it done by a professional. [Name removed by Sirelo], from Sussex Tailor Removal came along and quoted us for 70 cartons. We temporarily moved into this house 5 months before, 70 cartons were more or less what we used so it seemed correct. We booked with this company.

The packing team was very nice but so slow. It took those 3 men so long to pack our small terraced that by 5pm, they asked us to disassemble the double bed, the only wardrobe we got and to pack the whole kitchen! Most of the boxes they used were very small except few big one, most of them just half filled. As a result, the 70 boxes quoted turned into 200! -although a drawer for example also counts as a box. They have also used without my permission my own wrapping bubble roll, a massive professional roll that I bought for when I need to ship things.
The following morning, we were asked to pay for extra work and extra boxes. None of this mess was our fault. But we have been threatening to have our belongings blocked so we agreed on paying a small part of those extra fees.

Then two men came with their vans to load the boxes. It went well until they got stuck at the border because their vans were far too heavy. They couldn't go any further. This time, [Name removed by Sirelo] asked us to pay £3,000 for two other vans to come so our belongings could be dispatched between the 4 small vans. Now the question was, why did he quote on volume only, rather than on volume and weight? Why didn't he book a very large van in first place? Based on those, we categorically refused to pay, to which he replied that our belongings will be kept in his warehouse until we pay. After quite a few long and heated conversation, we paid only a part of those fees. It was his mistake, not ours, he shouldn't have charged us, let alone once again threatened us to block our belongings.

The following day, 3 of the 4 drivers reached our house. Access to the house is easy, unloading has been fast. It went so fast that we haven't managed to finish checking all the boxes before the last two drivers left. And it is only after they left that I realized that a roughly 1 m tall metal CD rack was missing. It is a very nice metal item, a bit heavy, that has been hand made with a very special design.

We called [Name removed by Sirelo] who asked the drivers. One of them, [Name removed by Sirelo] -I do apologize if I do not spell your name right, I am not familiar with Romanian names- contacted us. He vividly remembered having it in his van. He said it was even the first item that he unloaded and that I asked him to put it in the garden or in the garage. Because, as anyone else does, that is where I put my favorite CD, in the garage or in the garden, it is so much convenient! This item has been offered to me, I love it and has been in my lounge for many many years, I would have remembered if I would have seen him with it and would have never ever asked him to put it in such funny places. That is utterly ridiculous. It is not true. Despite of this, I have checked, double checked again and again, the house, garden and garage but is nowhere to be found.

If the driver remembers having it in his hands but it is nowhere to be found, then where it is? There were two drivers but the other hardly speak English so we didn't talk to him really.

For this issue, [Name removed by Sirelo] can't do anything for us. The driver is adamant that he delivers it but it is nowhere to be found. The only explanation is that he, or the other driver, drove back with this item. I did ask him to drop it off next time one of them is around but they can't bother.
It was a special gift and I want it back. Just drop it back next time you are around. Your job is to deliver all belongings, not to pick and choose.
I have just been offered £50 for it by the removal company, as part as their T&Cs.
It is not £50 that I should get refund, but all the extra cost I was asked to pay in 48 hours for a mistake that has been done by Sussex Tailored Removals.

That is my experience with Sussex Tailored Removals. It has been horrible. I could get over it I suppose but having this very special item taken away from me by people I paid to move it from a house to another one on top of having to pay so much more is very upsetting.

Keep in mind that if this happened to us, it can happen to you. It has been DIY from A to Z. This company is not professional, they obviously have no idea of what they are doing when it comes to cross the borders and the honesty of third parties companies they work with is questionable.

There are better companies around. I can't be worse anyway.
