When you read online reviews for moving companies, it’s easy to become sceptical — especially when some firms have horror stories attached to them. Gentlevans initially seemed almost too good to be true. After using them for our move, I can say they are far better than even their excellent reviews suggest.
I contacted Gentlevans just seven weeks before our international move from Maidenhead, England to Oleiros, A Coruña, Galicia, after being badly let down by another company that has since disappeared. Despite the short notice, Gentlevans immediately confirmed they could handle the move, with delivery expected about a month after collection.
From that moment on, communication — especially from [Name removed by Sirelo] — was exceptional. Moving is stressful enough, and moving internationally even more so. The horror stories you read online certainly don’t help. But Gentlevans, and [Name removed by Sirelo] in particular, made the process as smooth and reassuring as possible.
At one point, after I asked whether my inventory was sufficient, [Name removed by Sirelo] requested a video of the items and boxes. She quickly identified that a second van would be needed. With other companies, this kind of oversight often leads to delays and huge extra costs. Not with Gentlevans. There was an additional charge of around £250, but considering our final box count was triple the original estimate, this was more than reasonable.
On collection day, [Names removed by Sirelo]arrived exactly on time. Their care and attention while loading our belongings was exactly what you hope for but rarely get.
Then came the best surprise: delivery to Spain was moved forward by two weeks.
Communication remained excellent throughout, including updates from the ferry with precise arrival estimates — they arrived five minutes ahead of schedule. [Name removed by Sirelo] handled the delivery themselves, in a Gentlevans lorry, not a subcontracted third party. Everything was well protected, and nothing was too much trouble. Their professionalism and care went above and beyond.
As for cost, Gentlevans came in significantly under the budget I had set based on typical international moving prices.
