First, the hours the facility is open are severely limited for self storage. You have no access after 530pm - 6pm, no access Saturday afternoon and no access Sunday. Also, the staff occasionally close the gates a little earlier than the posted times; I've been caught out more than once on account of this flexible closing time policy. Be forewarned.
Second, the motion sensitive lights in the corridor - my unit had no interior lights - are timed to go out too early. It is really annoying to be moving some stuff around in one's unit and have the lights go out without warning after just a few minutes. When this happens, I have to go outside the unit and dance a little jig until they go back on again.
I get the need to save power and auto shut off lights is a sensible solution. But surely the lights could be timed to stay on 10 minutes, dare I say a half hour, to let the customer complete whatever rearranging of items he needs to undertake without interruption. (The motion sensitivity is apparently not activated if you stay within the unit. A switch on a 10 - 30 minute timer would work better in my opinion.) As it stands, Wheadon appear to put penny pinching kW hours at the expense of customer convenience.
I've complained more than once but they don't seem to get it. For both reasons, if there were a more customer-friendly self storage facility available, I would relocate without hesitation. But for the present there isn't and for me AW Wheadon is a satisfactory if not first rate solution to my storage needs.Read more
