I moved from Brighton to Houston and have found this removal company to be the absolute worst. Many items broken, the people that delivered my items were not qualified to move someone.

Many items of furniture just destroyed.

Even though complained the Directors were supposed to come back to me, nothing!

Find someone else to do your move, these people are absolutely useless.

Unfortunately it does not allow a zero rating

I moved from Scotland to the Netherlands, and I hired the Glasgow branch of Britannia to ship my belongings. They said the delivery was going to be made within four weeks, Worst case scenario 8. I got my delivery after 12 weeks, and some things I truly cared about are lost forever.

During week eight, I contacted them, and they said that eight weeks was not the final term but an indication of the approximate time. I forwarded them the email where they said “worst-case scenario eight weeks,” and they apologized, but I felt like they were making fun of me.

I called twice during week nine since I had no idea where my belongings were or when and if I would have them again. They explicitly told me that the delay wasn’t due to the coronavirus but to the fact that they did not have a lot of business. So, even more offensive since it was a deliberate choice rather than an impossibility.

During week 12, I finally got my goods. Most of them arrived—however, some others did not. A box containing jewelry is missing, together with other personal stuff I really cared about. Nothing very expensive, in fairness, but most of it had a strong sentimental value. However, since there is jewelry involved, I honestly think that someone stole it, thinking it was worth some money. Sorry, it was not.

I contacted Britannia again. They said I have no idea where my goods are, and they closed the email with no apology stating that they cannot assist any further. As if they ever assisted at all.

Moreover, my goods were packed in a completely random way. In they website they show pictures of perfectly nice hanged clothes. This is way far from the truth. My very expensive coat was a the bottom of a box completely squeezed with other stuff. It needs professional ironing now. I found towels stored with shoes and broken glasses. Just to give some examples.

Do not use this company. It’s completely unreliable

Used this company for an international relocation from UK to mainland Europe. Would definitely not recommend. First, the shared load move took longer than two months. Then the agreed delivery date was postponed of one day, meaning two days off taken from work rather than one. And then one item lost, and no compensation whatsoever, claiming that the insurance policy did not cover loss of items.

I had a partial move from Glasgow to Rome. The movers from the Glasgow office came on the 24th of April and did a good job of packing and wrapping my belongings, which were then packed into a wooden pallet, which I was told would not be opened again until it reached Rome. A complete lie.

After two months in storage my belongings were sent to Kent at the end of June. I heard a lot about the mysterious 'Kent office' in the following couple of months, usually every time something went wrong. Adjectives I could use to describe Britannia Movers?

*DISHONEST: My belongings were unpacked and repacked. I don't know if this happened in Glasgow or Kent. When they finally arrived, I had boxes with a random mix of belongings; some clothes wrapped around my microwave, some collectable soft toys cushioning my plates etc. Weird.
*INCOMPETENT: I was given a delivery window at the end of July. According to Glasgow, the Kent office 'forgot' to put my stuff on the July truck. I was told that I'd have to wait for the August truck. A month later.
*RUDE: There was no apology for this delivery error, quite the opposite in fact. I was told by the Glasgow office that they 'couldn't see the problem, to be honest'. After I made a fuss I was grudgingly refunded £200, a fraction of what I spent in rearranging flights and travel as a result of Britannia's mistake.
*LAZY: My belongings finally arrived 2 months after they left Glasgow. I flew back early from a holiday to be in Rome for the new delivery date. At 6pm that day, the delivery driver called to say that he couldn't get into my street because the truck was too big, so he was taking my stuff to a warehouse on the outskirts of Rome. By now I was at breaking point. Thankfully he came after I begged, cajoled, and bribed him. Unsurprisingly, the truck was not actually too big for the street.
*EXTREMELY CARELESS: Lots of little bits of annoying damage; dent on my retro microwave, chipped plate, damaged picture frames, dirty marks on a lampshade and the mattress. I stupidly didn't take out their insurance so as far as Britannia were concerned, it wasn't their problem. I had foolishly hoped that a removal company would see it as their responsibility to move your belongings without damaging them. I was wrong.
*MORALLY BANKRUPT: In my partial move, one item was sadly 'lost'. The item? A Playstation 4. Everything else arrived, including the games for the console (which I had put in a different bag). It just so happened that the one missing item was a £300 games console. What were the chances? Quite high, it seems. Make of that what you will.

Are Britannia the cheapest option? Probably. But with a £200 refund, I still paid £1300 for this farce. If you do decide to go with them, don't include anything remotely valuable in your packing (it could get 'lost'), take every form of insurance that you can possibly find, be VERY flexible regarding delivery times, don't use their 'wrapping' service (where they throw stuff in a box and hope for the best).

Or do yourself a favour, pay a bit extra, and use a different company. I wish I had.
