240What happened:
7 September, 8:00am: No one showed up and nobody warned me. I called repeatedly and got no answer. Almost an hour later I was told the van had 'broken down.' I rescheduled.
10 September, 1:00pm: I was given a new slot. Beforehand I asked twice for the vehicle registration and a direct contact number, and got no reply either time. Again nobody turned up, and again nobody answered the phone, either the WhatsApp number or the one on their website. When someone finally replied hours later, he claimed I was actually booked for the following week.
The fake refund: On 11 September I was told the refund would be 'processed today' and that I'd receive an email, with £50 compensation. On 18 September I asked for basic details (amount, date sent, reference) and was told 'give me until tomorrow morning.' I then heard nothing for six days. On 25 September I was promised the money 'by the end of the day.' It never arrived, because it was never coming.
In the end I went to my bank, which treated it as a scam and reimbursed me, minus a £100 excess. The bank is now trying to recover that from Sure Removals. So even after all of this, I'm still out of pocket.
I'll admit I let my guard down. They came recommended by a family member, so I paid the full amount by bank transfer before receiving any official invoice. That was a mistake on my part. I never received a receipt afterwards either.
Every message they send is friendly and apologetic, and every promise is a lie designed to buy time. This is not a real removals service. Do not pay them anything. They go by the names of '[Names removed by Sirelo]' but they could well be the same person for all I know. My initial communications were with someone called '[Name removed by Sirelo]'.Read more
