Are you ready to move back home to Italy? Read more about Cristina’s journey as she moves back to Italy from the UK after 20 years of being away. Check out her story and her top tips for having a smooth removal back home.

What were your reasons for moving? What was the experience like?

I was relocating back to my birth country after 20 years and went from a 5 bed house into a flat so the move was long and stressful. I was moving between the end of fall and beginning of winter and also my work station so Legend Removals were the best turnaround time for me of 2 weeks, other companies had given me a month estimate! Which was unacceptable as I needed my winter clothes, Christmas things and most importantly my work station as I am self employed. The experience was definitely stressful but made easier by using a professional company with very good customer service and fast response time to help with the moving anxiety which is very common.

What made you choose this mover? Did you do any research?

Yes, I did a lot of research and many told me it would take a month to move things from the UK to Italy which was completely ridiculous. Their excuse was that I was using a part-load service which I don’t understand. The estimate quote was very similar between companies but the timing of delivery differed and also for me the time it took customer service to reply to emails mattered because a move is already a stressful event and having quick answers to my questions helped a lot with everything…

Take us through your moving day – did everything go as planned? What worked and what didn’t?

Actually the relocation company messaged me a week earlier and asked if they could come sooner. When I chose my dates they said they were estimates and that sometimes it could change but I thought by a day or two.
I was lucky enough to be very organised (although there was a bit of last minute rush in taking some of the last minute essential furniture down like my work desk etc) but I was happy that they came earlier because that meant I would be getting my things earlier at the other end. They were very professional on moving day.

Based on your experience, what are your top tips you’d like to share to help others for their own moves?

  • Be organised and prepared that the company could come sooner than expected although this is not obligatory as I could have said no but that may have meant they would have come later than expected which would have been worse.
  • Leave only essentials for last minute so that they can be done in a day or 2 should the need arise.
  • I would recommend even wrapping your own furniture because a very expensive office chair was damaged and I didn’t realise I only had 7 days to claim for it. So definetely read these terms
