What a nightmare our move turned out to be. We paid them to move us from the North East to Welwyn Garden City outside London so a big move. We had David came out and saw everything that was going and actually we got rid of some of them so overall it was less than what he saw. On moving day which is stressful enough the hours ticked by and they were pushing our belongings in the van and then said there wasn’t enough room for everything. The reason being we had too many little boxes. We should have used bigger boxes which they had offered to sell us but no one had said this to us. They wanted to charge us another £1000 to bring the remainder down on another day. As my husband told them a cubic meter is the same if it’s in one box or three boxes. We eventually paid someone else to go and collect the rest of our belongings so our move would be finished. I thought we were having a professional firm but that was far from our experience and I would advise anyone to tread very warily before employing them. We have had broken tables and lamps and goodness knows what else as most of our boxes haven’t been unpacked yet.Read more

I had to have some items collected and stored at very short notice and it was a stressful time but Brown & Illingworth swung into immediate action. The first team quickly and efficiently packed up what seemed to me to be a huge amount of stuff but they were done in a very short time. The second team returned my stored items today and again were prompt, friendly and efficient, cheerfully placing boxes in the rooms I identified and everything had clearly been carefully stored and was all exactly as it left my home. I'd contacted the company office the day before to advise of traffic restrictions and was calmly reassured that the delivery team would find a way to make it work and they did! Brown & Illingworth staff are outstanding, nothing is a problem and nothing is too much trouble for them. I was made to feel like a valued customer even though my job was relatively small and I can't imagine better service. If you want outstanding service from terrific people, don't hesitate to use Brown & Illingworth.Read more

Brilliant service! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for removals. Brown and Illingworth helped us with our very last minute move in January 2026. They gave us a free no obligation quote which was very competitive. The removal men on the day were extremely efficient and friendly despite us not being as prepared as we would have liked! They were so quick but careful not to damage our belongings. Would use again next time we move (if we ever do!) and recommend to anyone.
We cannot thank you enough! Gordon & Lee

I can't recommend Brown & Illingworth highly enough! The lads were so efficient and friendly and instantly put us at ease. Moving day is really overwhelming and stressful and they just made us feel like nothing was a bother. They were really careful with our belongings and our house which was really important to us

Fantastic service, we used their storage and moving services over a 6 month period. Will definitely recommend and use them again. The office staff are very friendly and the men who moved and packed our furniture took care to make sure no damage was caused to property or items to be stored.
