Relocating to France

Discover Stephen and his experience with Legend Removals to modify his property in France. Discover the tips he shared that ensured a smooth removal!

We’d like to know the origin and destination of your move, and most importantly the reason of your move. How did you experience that?

We have a property in France that we wanted to modify. We have an excellent relationship with a British joinery manufacturer, local to us in Sussex, that enabled us to monitor the fabrication of our doors and frames. By using this established company we could guarantee the quality, and it meant we could have our doors and frames manufactured while we were unable to visit France. The added benefit was we were able to take to our property, every last screw, tube of glue etc., required for the project, and make our property more secure, for those periods that we weren’t in attendance.

Choosing a good moving company is painful, we know that. How did you manage to find the perfect one among the thousands of existing ones?

We didn’t do any specific research into the company, but from the onset, Legend Removals was a joy to deal with. Whilst the cost wasn’t the most economic, their can-do approach best suited our approach. When we accepted the quotation and our move was passed over to the Operations Team, they kept us updated on a regular basis. When there was a slight hiccup causing a minor delay, they were swiftly emailing us keeping us fully informed of where we stood. We cannot praise their approach strongly enough.

Take us through the moving day – did everything go as planned?

The Operations Team emailed us 48 hours before our delivery was due, to confirm the time slot, 08:00 – 12:00 on Wednesday 5th July. On the morning of the 5th, they emailed telling us there was a minor delay, and delivery would be put back until the afternoon, between the hours of 14:00 and 18:00. We then received a further email confirming that the driver and van would be with us within 30 minutes., which he was. The driver maneuvered his van through our gates expertly, and had unloaded and stacked our goods within 25 minutes. It all worked very, very well.

What are 3 tips that you think could help others make their moving day less chaotic?

1. Have a good understanding of the weights and/or volume of the goods that are to be moved.
2. Make sure you clearly understand the conditions that you are accepting.
3.Clearly mark each box or carton with an individual number or letter, so that you can check the goods on to and off at the property.
4. Make sure any fragile or breakable items are suitably protected.
5. Keep an inventory of the contents of each box or carton, to ensure you don’t leave anything behind.
6. Trust the feedback from previous users.
